Sands Bethlehem Casino Promotes Grand Opening with Satellite Media Tour
Sands Bethlehem Casino promoted their recent Grand Opening by contracting PMTV to produce their critical Video Production and Satellite Media Tour Services.
PMTV served as video production project manager and consultant from project start to finish - handling all Video Production and Broadcast details so that the client could focus on creating a great event for their customers.
PMTV provided the event Producer, all below the line crew, multi camera production facilities and ENG crews, Audio, Lighting, Communications, and Satellite Services for the live Satellite Media Tour interview between Sands’ CEO Sheldon Adelson and CNBC’s news anchor Maria Bartiromo.
For both national and local news outlets, PMTV shot, edited, and assembled B-Roll, sound bites, and event highlights into a slated package, produced to exactly match Sand’s script. The package was transmitted to news outlets via satellite prior to the scheduled live shots and interviews to enable remote news producers to easily pre-assemble their news segments. PMTV also made multiple BetaSP tape duplicates on site for availability to local news outlets covering the event.
By pre-packaging these elements in advance, PMTV gave Sands maximum control over the images and quality in delivering their messages to their targeted audience.
Some of the unique challenges for this requirement were:
- Providing a Producer with relevant gaming industry experience (and licensed) to oversee the shooting/editing of the news packages, plus the day of show Live TV broadcast requirements.
- An extremely tight schedule in which the pre-assembled packages needed to be completed in order to be available in time for same day news coverage.
- Making these packages available via both satellite and tape copies in various formats.
From our extensive database of Broadcast Professionals, PMTV selected long time colleague and Producer Mike Tully, a casino gaming industry heavyweight who brought the correct mix of Live Broadcast, TV News and Casino business experience to the project.
Technical challenges were met by sending a combination Uplink / Production truck to the venue. The SNG unit was equipped with fully redundant Satellite Transmission paths, live multi-camera switching, video graphics and editing capabilities, on-board backup generator power, and all required communications services to ensure flawless live performance and highest quality Video Production. Using the SNG/Production "combo" truck was a more economical alternative to hiring separate Uplink and Mobile Unit trucks without sacrificing quality or capabilities.
PMTV’s Production Documentation Package, developed with the experience gained in thousands of live broadcast productions over 20 years, clearly laid out every detail – including Crew Assignments, Equipment utilization, Power plan, Satellite Transponder Segment, Communications, Event Schedules, and crew Travel Itineraries – ensuring flawless production control and management.
The Result: Sands corporate image and their event’s excitement were delivered in the highest quality manner to their desired targets, and all was accomplished within Sand’s desired budget.
